HOW TO HIRE DRIVERS
- Try to eliminate urgency – have a contingency plan in case someone leaves. Is it possible to move a part time operator to full time? Even a temporary solution is better than no solution.
- Accept applications and actively recruit candidates – don’t just do one or the other
- Conduct an interview for fit, not just for skills
- Present candidates with scenarios and ask them how they would resolve them. Use images or video if you can.
- Always check references, employment history and driving record.
- If a candidate does not get the position, be sure to let them know. DO NOT do so until the desired candidate has accepted the position.
