SOME TIPS FOR REPREMANDING EMPLOYEES
- Do it as soon as possible – do not dwell on your disappointment, it can cause it to grow
- Do it in private – there is reason to embarrass the employee in front of the rest of the company
- Explain what the mistake was and how it could have been avoided
- Explain the severity of the mistake – don’t make a mountain out of a molehill and vice versa
- Explain how it made you feel – angry, annoyed, frustrated, concerned, etc.
- Confirm that the employee understands what they’ve done wrong and know how to prevent the mistake in the future
- Reinforce your support for the employee and how competent you believe they are
- Keep it short
- Always finish on a positive note
